He married Agnes "Nancy" McCorkle January 21, 1790 in Rowan County, North Carolina, daughter of Alexander McCorkle and Agnes Montgomery.

On 1790 Census for Iredell County, listed as having one white male, no males under 16, two free females, and two slaves.


Was with General Joseph Graham when latter severely wounded by a saber.


Deed Book 9, Page 319: On March 21, 1780, the State of North Carolina granted [this?] Robert Ramsey plot #126 of 100 acres at 50 shillings per 100 acres. Land is on Lambert's Creek "next said Ramsey."


Deed Book 11, Page 272: On October 15, 1787, Richard Holmes of Rowan County sells [this?] Robert Ramsey of Rowan County 320 acres [the east end of plot #459, granted by the State of North Carolina on October 8, 1783] on both sides of Withrow's Creek "next James Holmes and William Neill" for 150 pounds. Deed witnessed by Lambert Clayton and James Kerr, Esq., and proved by Kerr in November 1787.
