Friday, January 30, 1852 New York Times:

House Thieves - On Wednesday afternoon the dwelling house of Mr. Robert Powell, corner of Adams street and Myrtle-avenue, was entered by some rogue, who stole therefrom, in cash, about $55, and a piece of silk valued at $10. The villain made his escape without alarming the inmates.

There's a William Powell in 1790 census for Stephentown (Somers) Westchester County.

A "Moses Powell, Northcastle" (Westchester Co.) will was proved. Abstract:

"Wife Katherine. Leaves all lands and houses in North Castle to his 8 sons John, Nathaniel, Moses, Obadiah, Edmund, James, Isaac, and Samuel. Legacies to daughters Hannah Carpenter, Mary, Elizabeth, Ann Quimby, Katherine Hunt and Mary Gleason. July 7, 1774. Proved Nov. 5, 1774."
