Robert L. Newton Successful businessman, cherished many friendships, 87 Robert L. Newton, 87, of Pompton Plains, N.J., died peacefully on Christmas Day, 2014. Bob resided in Wayne, N.J., for 40 years before moving to Pompton Plains in 1996. A graduate of Syracuse University, he earned his master's degree in chemistry from Cornell University. He began his career on Wall Street with Clark Dodge & Co. After 10 years with Clark Dodge, Bob joined F. Eberstadt & Co., retiring as senior vice president. His career was marked by much success, yet Bob would tell you that his greatest achievements were the friendships he developed along the way. Bob is survived by his wife, Alma; his children, Peg Patten and her husband, Chris, Russ Newton and his wife, Kimberly, and Audrey Newton; Alma's children, Forrest DeVisser and his wife, Jamie, and Garret DeVisser and his wife, Maritta; five grandchildren, Jacob, Sami, and Robert Newton, and Alyssa and Olivia DeVisser; sister-in-law, Dahlia Newton, and her children, Jessica Orvis and Roy Newton.
