Robert J. Newton, 90, longtime resident of Glenview, December 18, 2010. Beloved husband of 63 years of Maryanne Newton, nee Siewert; loving father of Gregory (Traci), Mark (Karen) and Kevin (Jenny) Newton; cherished grandfather of Brooke, Jill, and Katie Newton, Emily (Mark) Flatley, Maureen, Sean and Kelli-Ann Newton; dear brother of Mary Maggi, Betty Hannon, the late Edmund Newton, Irene Coyle and Walter Newton; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Mr. Newton was the first Eagle Scout from Troop 18, Evanston and a veteran of the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He was an active member and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. John J. Dussman Council 3731 and a member of the Glenview American Legion ,Joseph M. Sesterhenn Post # 166. Mr. Newton was an avid Northwestern University Football Fan. Visitation Monday 3 to 8 p.m., at N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home , 1240 Waukegan Rd., Glenview (just south of Lake Ave. on west side). Funeral Mass, Tuesday 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1775 Grove St. (at Church St.)Glenview. Interment All Saints Cemetery.
