Marriage in Kent County Maryland, 1827. The marriage extract, found through Ancestry.com states Robert was a Doctor. Tombstone states he was a Doctor. I wrote the Kent County Genealogical Society and received confirmation plus information on Civil War records of sons Robert Handy McCoy and Henry (Harry) McCoy. His children's birthdates were found through ancestry.com. I do not have any records verifying their birthdates at this time.

Dr. Robert McCoy - Last Will and Testament I Robert McCoy of Baltimore County being of sound and disposing mind but of weak bodily health do hereby declare this to be my last will and testament. 1st. That my funeral expenses and just debts be paid. 2ndly. I do devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary Frisby McCoy during her widowhood and no longer all of my estate real, personal and mixed in possession, reversion or remainder whether vested or contingent and upon her death or second marriage I do hereby devise and bequeath the said estate to my five children Mary, Andrew, Henry, Robert Handy and Cu(a)ssandra their Heirs and Executors share and share alike. I do hereby also authorise and empower my beloved wife during her widowhood by and with the consent of her father Geo. D. S. Handy upon its appearing to his satisfaction that my wife and children wil be thereby benefitted to sell and dispose of absolutely and for ever all or part of my estate, and to invest the said proceeds under the direction of Geo. D.S. Handy, having the sanction of the Orphans Court of Baltimore County, in such way as will be most beneficial for my said wife and children, and I do hereby also authorize my said wife during her said widowhood by and with the consent of Geo. D.S. Handy to alter and change the same investment, as often as my wife and the said Geo. D.S. Handy may deem it to the interest of my said my wife and children. And I do hereby also authorise my said wife during her widowhood by and with the approbation of the said Geo. D.S. Handy to expend so much of the principal of my said estate as may be necessary for the support or maintenance, or education of my said children, or any of them. I do also devise and bequeath unto William McCoy of Harford County thirteen (13) shares of stock standing in my name on the Books of the Commercial and Farmers Bank of Baltimore County, the said William McCoy to hold the said stock for the use and benefit of my brother John C. McCoy, and I do hereby authorise and empower the said John C. McCoy, and to pay all dividends hereafter accruing to the said John C. McCoy, and I do hereby authorize and empower the said William McCoy if do please so to do to sell and transfer the said shares of stock or any of them, and to pay the proceeds of said sale to my said brother, provided he does not pay him in any one year more than the sum of One hundred dollars (100) - I do also declare that my will and desire are that my servant Henrietta shall be free and manumitted from slavery when she shall arrive to the age of twenty one years, being at this time thirteen (13) provided that immediately after her arrival at the age of twenty one years she shall go to the Maryland Colony at Cape Palmas, or elsewhere in Africa, and in case the said Henrietta will not consent to go to Africa, she shall not be free until she arrives at the age of twenty five years at which time I declare she shall be free and manumitted from slavery, and whatever children she may have shall likewise be free to accompany their mother to Africa. And in case the mother of the children of Henrietta declines going to Africa each and every one of the children of Henrietta shall be free at twenty one years of age. I do also declare that my wish and desire are that my servant Peter shall be permitted to accompany his daughter Henrietta to Africa, and if she consents to go and he to accompany her that he shall be free and manumitted from slavery. Whereas my will and desire are that all my property and estate, excepting the said thirteen shares of stock, shall pass to my wife during her widowhood, and after her death or second marriage to my five children, and whereas my Uncle Andrew McCoy who is now alive, has in his last will devised and bequeathed certain property to me, and whereas my will and desire are that all such property as may by said Will of Andrew McCoy be bequeathed to me, shall pass directly to my children to be divided among them share and share alike, and that no part or portion thereof shall pass to my wife. Now for the purpose of removing all doubts I have executed this instrument, and by it do as far as I have power to act upon any property which may be bequeathed and devised to me by the will of Uncle Andrew McCoy declare as my wish and desire that my five children shall have the said property in equal shares. I do hereby appoint my wife Mary Frisby McCoy and Geo. D.S. Handy (Sent?) Executrix and Executor of this my last Will and Testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal and published this as my last Will and Testament in the presence of the undersigned witnesses this third day of May in the year of One thousand eight hundred and thirty eight. Signed and sealed and published by Robert McCoy as his last Will and Testament, in our presence, who at his request, and in his presence of each other have hereto subscribed our names as witnesses this third day of May in the year 1838. Edw'd Stevenson John Stevenson James McLaughlin Baltimore County (?). On the 9th day of June 1838, came Edward Stevenson, John Stevenson and James McLaughlin the three subscribing witnesses to the aforegoing last Will and Testament of Robert McCoy late of said County deceased, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God, that they did see the Testator sign and seal this Will, that they heard him publish, pronounce and declare the same to be his last Will and Testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding and that they subscribed their names as witnesses to this Will in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other.
