Robert de Lacy

d.21 Aug 1193
m. Abt 1133
  1. Robert de Lacy - 1193
Facts and Events
Name Robert de Lacy
Gender Male
Marriage to Isabel de Warenne
Death? 21 Aug 1193

He died without legitimate issue. His heiress was his cousin, Aubrey de Lisours.

One copy of the Lacy history (compiled by the monks of Kirkstall) contains an interpolation which states incorrectly that Aubrey de Lisours was his maternal half-sister. This is chronologically impossible, but the mistake was repeated in many books before it was detected by Joseph Hunter.

Some of his charters are witnessed by a Gilbert de Lacy, who may he been his illegitimate son. This may be the Gilbert de Lacy who founded the Lacy family of Cromwellbottom, in Halifax parish, Yorkshire.
