It appears the family came to Canada about 1822. The 1825 census includes the family. The spelling of the name in Ireland was Leatham. A letter dated October 24 1990 from the vicar in Drung, county Cavan, Ireland mentions records of Castleterra about a Leatham family. James, son of Robert & Sarah Leatham, born April 30 1815 and John, son of Robert and Sarah Leatham born May 02 1813. The Irish census of 1821 shows 8 children.
