On 4 Aug 1659, Katherine Farrent, a paternal aunt of Robert Lanier,and widow of Daniel Farrent, made her Will in East Greenwich, with the following bequests, among others: to brother Clement Lanier 20 pounds, to his sons, Robert, Lionel and William 5 pounds and to his daughters Hannah, Elizabeth, Susann, and Frances 10 pounds. This wording reveals that Clement's sons Nicholas and John had already left home, while Robert, Lionel and William had not.
