Robert O. Kerr & Hattie D. Kerr are my great-grandparents and I am searching for any information anyone may have regarding them. Robert O. Kerr is buried in the Texas State Cemetary and his headstone reads: Co. D, 5 Va. Inf. C.S.A. He was born in 1839 and died April 23, 1931. His Infantry unit was from Augusta County, Virginia. In the Civil War Muster Rolls, he is listed as a Private (see Box # 00382, Extraction # 0031, Record # 00003334). Robert O. Kerr was granted a Confederate Pension (Application # 28733) in Williamson County, Texas. Hattie D. was granted a spouse's Confederate Pension (Application # 49978) in Travis County, Texas. Robert O. Kerr is identified in the Texas 1880 Federal Census Index (ID # TX28725740) as residing in Williamson County. Robert O. Kerr is identified in the Virginia 1870 Federal Census Index (ID # VA087268637) as residing in Augusta County, township of Riverheads. Family lore has it that Robert teasingly told Hattie (when she was a small child) that he would come back and marry her after the Civil War. He evidently did. Any information on Robert O. Kerr and his roots in the Augusta County region would be appreciated. Any information regarding Hattie's maiden name and roots would also be much appreciated References
