Robert E. Keefer, 86, of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care Sunday morning, Jan. 18, 2004, at his home. He was the husband of Kathryn Hudson Keefer, who died Aug. 2, 1998. Born in York County, on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 1918, he was the son of the late Oscar E. and Emma C. Orndorff Keefer. Mr. Keefer was a cabinet maker and had been employed at Hanover Made Furniture for more than 35 years before retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Hanover American Legion Post 14. During World War II, he served with the Navy in the European Theater of operations. He graduated from Central High School, McSherrystown, with the class of 1935. Surviving are his brother, Oscar E. Keefer of Hanover; and many nieces and nephews. His Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. today at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 220 Third St., Hanover. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. today at the church. Burial will be in St. Vincent Catholic Cemetery. The Rev. John A. Szada Jr. will serve as celebrant. Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 220 Third St., Hanover, Pa. 17331. Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Keefer, Robert Keefer, Andrew Keefer, Kenneth Keefer, Theresa Klineyoung and Jennifer Warren. Published in the Evening Sun from 1/19/2004 - 1/21/2004.
