    Excerpt: "Born in New Jersey, 1744, son of Judith and Garrett Johnson; came with ten brothers and sisters to make his home east of Meadowville, Barbour County, about 1788, and died March 16, 1831. Garrett Johnson was the son of Rutger Janson (or Johnson) and Annetje Gerritt's, who lived in Somerset Cou nty, New Jersey. Robert Johnson lived in Hopewell, NJ, at the outbre ak of the Revolution, saw service as a private in that war, and was discha rged from service, March 19, 1781. He married in Hunterdon Co., NJ, Ma ry Vannoy, born, 1749 and died December 1, 1827. Their children were: Garrett, married Mary, daughter of James England; Isaac, married Hannah, dau ghter of James Poling; Benjamin; Francis (Frank), married Elizabeth England; Rachel, married Ebenezer Kelley; John, married Elizabeth, daughter of P eter Poland; William, married Catherine, daughter of Christopher Hovatter; Robert, married Elizabeth, daughter of John Hoffman; Rebecca, married William Hoff; Levi, married Rebecca, daughter of William McMillan."
