    Robert Estep was born 1749 in New Jersey. He married Dorcas Wells and settled in Peters Township (later Union Township) of Washington county, Pennsylvania, where he acquired 368 acres of land on Peters Creek, one mile below Finleyville. Robert provided space on his acreage for one of the meeting places of the Peters Creek Baptist Church. The church later moved to the village of Library, just across the border into Allegheny county. Robert served in the Revolutionary War as a member of the Washington County Militia. Robert died 15 June 1832 at age eighty-two. He and his wife Dorcas were both buried in the Peters Creek Church Graveyard. They had 13 children [listed in text].
