    NEWPORT NEWS - Robert Paul Edenfield, 56, died on Thursday, March 22, 2007, in his home with his loved ones near. 'I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.' II Timothy 4:7. Bob was born in Uniontown, Pa., on a beautiful Easter morning to Ewing and Osella Edenfield. He grew up in Aliquippa, Pa., where he graduated from high school and then joined the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He served our country for four years. In 1985, he moved with his wife and children to Newport News to begin his career as an inspector for Newport News Shipbuilding until the onset of his illness. Bob attended Peninsula Community Chapel in Yorktown and he previously was a member of Newport News Church of the Nazarene.

    Bob was preceded in death by his father, Ewing Edenfield. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Patricia Edenfield; his son, Robert Edenfield II and his wife, April; daughters, Erin Rizzo and her husband, Mike, and Beth Goodlet and her husband, Chris; grandchildren, Karis Rizzo and Abigail Goodlet; his mother, Osella Edenfield; sisters, Connie Humphreys, Betty Collins and her husband, Ron, Kathy Clark and her husband, Tim, and Rhonda Tomei and her husband, Joe; brothers, Ewing (Ed) Edenfield and his wife, Judy, Timothy Edenfield and his wife, Lisa, and Daniel Edenfield, as well as many nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank Peninsula Cancer Institute and Riverside Hospice for their loving care.
