Robert Merton Burdick 1910-2004 "The Janesville Gazette", Janes Ville, Wisconsin, Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004. EDGERTON- Robert M. Burdick, age 93, of 601 York Rd., Edgerton, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004 at the Evansville Manor after a short illness. He was born on Nov. 14, 1910 in Edgerton, the son of Claude and Martha (Dallman) Burdick. Robert graduated with the class of 1930. Robert was a member of the 1927 Edgerton High School football team, which was undefeated, compiling 244 points to 14 for their opponents. After school he worked with his father as a carpenter. He then served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was a 1st Sgt. of Hq. Co. 128th Inf. at the onset of World War II, and served with distinction in the Pacific against the Japanese, during which time the 32nd Division saw more than 600 days of combat. After the service he was in the National Guard for another 17 years, returned to Edgerton and helped build the Nunn Bush shoe factory. He worked for Nunn Bush for over 40 years, retiring in 1974. Living next to the golf course, he spent many hours as a volunteer helping out whenever he could. He is survived by a daughter, Ellen (Patrick) Bogan of Indiana; a son, Stephen Burdick of Florida; a daughter, Nancy (John) Thompson of Indiana; a stepdaughter, Barb (Richard) Robey of Illinois; 13 grandchildren: Arija, Jessica, Elizabeth, William, Stephanie, Cody, Kevin, Mike, Susan, Ann, Jay, Brian and Chris; many great-grandchildren; and a brother, Alan Burdick of Edgerton. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 brothers: Lawrence, Norman and Stan. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004 at the Albrecht Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Pastor Roy Poltrock officiating. Friends may call on Saturday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. References
