Allen Family and Descendants of Latimerstown, Wexford, Ireland [1663-1900 ] -
    Notes for Robert ALLEN:
Robert was identified as the second son of "John Allen of Latimerstown" when his father leased Ballycarrane. (Reg. Deeds Dublin, Vol. 76, p.346, No.54804, Mem. reg. 9 Dec. 1734 of Lease of 10 June 1734.) However, he was also identified as John Allen's "youngest son" in a deed dated five years later, which may indicate that the third son had died. (Deed # 70800, 4 March 1739)

Robert's children were identified by their cousin John Allen of Johnstown in 1806 when he left them 20 pounds each: Rev.John Allen, Richard Allen, Ebenezr Allen, Wm Allen, Sarah Allen, alias Mahon Hannah Allen alias Nunn, Robert Allen and Mary Allen..."all the sons and daughters of my Uncle Robert of Latimerstown."

As to the property known as Johnstown, John Allen left this to his surviving sister Sarah Allen "for life then amongst kinsfolk." (Pre Will made 11 April 1804; Proved 14 Nov 1806).

Almost all of the sons of Robert Allen are believed to have immigrated to Maryland, United States in the 1790s; some of their relations may have preceded them. Robert's daughter Mary Allen who married George Pounder also immigrated; the Pounders went to Lanark Co., Ontario, Canada. Only Robert Jr. remained in Latimerstown, Wexford, Ireland. A second daughter, Sarah Allen a.k.a Hannah Nunn probably married Rev. Thomas White, but her whereabouts are still unknown.
