- ↑ TOLEDO-Richard A. Zmolek, age 82, of Clive and formerly of Toledo, passed away on January 11, 2007 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center of complications following a hip fracture. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 15, 2007 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held prior to the service Monday, January 15, 2007 from 9:30-10:30 AM at the church.
Richard was born July 7, 1924 in Tama County, Iowa.
He graduated in 1941 and entered military service thereafter. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee.
In 1956, he married Frances Rudloff in Canton, SD and they had three children. They were married for forty-nine years until her death in 2005.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines. He was employed by the State of Iowa for over twenty-five years until his retirement in 1989.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Survivors include by his brother, Harry (Betsy) Zmolek of Knoxville, TN; three children, Robbie Zmolek of Des Moines, John Zmolek of Des Moines, and Susan (Reggie) Carpenter of Oakton, VA; and two grandchildren.
