His name - probably called "John, my younger son" - appeared in the Will of his father. There appears to be a mistake in the wording of his father's Will as printed, for it is scarcely likely that his father should have two sons of the name of John, and therefore I presume that the word " John my younger son" should be " Richard my younger son". It is not material, however, for the son and heir of Richard Waterhouse was named John, and it was from him that Waterhouse, afterwards of Shibden Hall, sprung. He was buried in Halifax Churchyard on 22th December 1538. He made his Will dated 20 Dec 1538, (Vol 11, folio 373). Will pr. 3th June 1539. |
