Richard W. 1815 was proprietor of Ironworks at Bradford, where the first railway wheels and axles for George Stephenson were manufactured and used on the Liverpool and Manchester Railway. He was a personal friend of Hudson "the Railway King". and manufactured material for the railways with which Hudson was connected.
