Biography
Richard was born about 1738 to John Searcy and Phoebe Hargraves.[1] He is named in his father's will which was written 15 Mar 1783 and probated in February of 1787 in Granville County, North Carolina.[1]
He appears on the census of North Carolina on page 2 in Oxford District, 1786, Granville County, North Carolina with the following household members:
- white males age 21-60: 1
- white males under 21 and over 60: 2
- females: 5::no slaves.[2]
He married Mary "Molly"[3] Richard[4] and the couple had the following known children:
- Leonard Searcy[3]
- Lucy Searcy[3]
- Edmond Searcy[3]
- Berry Searcy[3]
- Henry Searcy[3]
- Polly Searcy[3]
- Rita/Ritter Searcy[3]
- Nancy Searcy[3]

By 1810 he is in Woodford County, Kentucky where he appears on the census that year with the following household members:

- females)16-26:1 ; 45+:1::4 slaves.[5]
He appears on the 1820 census in Woodford County with the following household members:

- females)45+:1::4 slaves.[6]
Richard passed away in 1824 in Woodford County, Kentucky.[3][7]
