In Obedience to an order of the worshipful court of Cumberland and directed to us the undersigned commissioners beg leave to report that the parties Viz. Cradock Wisdom on the part of himself and his wife Susanah and Wm. Woodson on the part of himself and his wife Polly also on the part of Martin W. Richardson & John R. Richardson who are orphan children & representatives of Richard Richardson dec'd. and whose guardian he is and requested us to state to the Court ~ That they have come to the following agreement which they desire us to report as mutually satisfactory to them __.
The said Craddock Wisdom & his wife Susanah shall have and hold the land & plantation called Boston Hill which was bought of Mayo? Carrington's Estate, to use and enjoy the same as Tenants in fee during the life is the said Susanah, as their dower of all the land where of Richard Richardson died possessed. Except that one hundred acres shall be left uncleared lying and situates as follows Vzt: The slipe of wood land on the east side of the plantation adjoining Randolph Harrison's land the present fence dividing it from the cleared land to continue its direction to Mrs. Bradleys line so as to include 50 acres if so much there be the balance of the hundred acres to be laid off at the upper and of Boston Hill tract by direct line to run out from Nellises? Creek to the line between it and Codrington Carringtons or Mrs. Bradleys line as the case may be; On the first mentioned Flipe? the said Wisdom is to be at liberty to cut lumber for the use of the plantation, in case of very bad weather for fire wood, the last mentioned parcel of wood land is to be altogether untouched, It is further agreed that during five years ___ after the present, the said Widsom shall be at liberty to employ in the cultivation of the plantation three hands in addition to those belonging to the estate after that period he to employ no more than the number belonging to the estate, it is also agreed that if the aforesaid Wisdom & his wife Susanah should be interrupted in the free enjoyment of the aforementioned lands on account of any defect in the title which is now under control with Edward Carrington and John Adams or on account of any kind of ___ which either of the infant heirs Martin or John aforementioned may cause at any time. Then and in that case this agreement shall no longer be binding on the parties, and a new dower Estate shall be assigned as tho this had never been given. And of the said Cradock Wisdom should survive his wife Susannah he is upon her death to deliver over the premises to those entitled under the same regulations as if he had held it by Allottment of dower under the law. Your commissioners are decidedly of opinion that the allottment above agreed to with its advantages is far-short of what would be assigned under the law, and that the interest of the infant Heirs is promoted by it. And therefore have consented to make the report which they respectfully submit. In confirmation the parties have hereto affixed their hands & seals this 15th day of August 1814.
