    Richard E. "Dick" Porter, 76, formerly of rural Frankfort, died at 3:30 a.m. August 4, 2001, at the Indiana Veterans Home in Lafayette.

    Mr. Porter lived in Clinton County most of his life and attended school in Tipton and Frankfort. He worked at Mallory Controls 29 years and retired from the Clinton County Highway Department in 1987. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy 1943-1945 and participating in the D-Day invasion. He was a member of the American Legion and past member of the VFW.

    He was born May 21, 1925, in Tipton, to James Dewey and Belvia Irene (Durham) Porter. He married Radonna I. Laughner on June 22, 1945, and she died November 23, 1998.

    Surviving are four sons, Kim D. "Pete" and Brett W. of Frankfort, Richard Jr. and Timothy A. of Lafayette; four daughters, Donna L. Toney, Linda L. Michael and Lori A. McCarty , all of Frankfort and Mary J. McCoy of Greenfield; three sisters, Phyllis Shaw of Fairborne, Ohio, and Reita Bartly and Joella Dell of Tipton; 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

    Four brothers preceded him in death.

    Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Genda Funeral Home with Pastor Raymond L. Rader officiating.

    Burial with military rites will be in Kilmore Cemetery.
