    Richard Patton, 81, of Raub, died Friday, December 5, 2008 at 7:30 a.m. at George Davis Manor, West Lafayette. Born August 21, 1927 in Grantsville, Maryland, he was the son of the late Beulah C. Patton Kahl. He had been a resident of Raub since 1954, coming from Grantsville. He married Alice Mae Perkins on August 1, 1946, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and she survives. They spent their winters in Mission, Texas.

    Mr. Patton was a farmer and a member of Raub United Methodist Church, where he served on various committees. He was a member of Kentland Masonic Lodge 361, a past master of the Earl Park Lodge, and received his 50-year pin.

    An Army veteran, he served from 1944 until 1947 at Los Alamos, New Mexico and was a member of the Army basketball team, The Atomic Bombers.

    Survivng with his wife are a son, Robert A. Patton (wife: Jennifer) of Celina, Texas; a daughter, Jane Patton Tolen (husband: Kurt) of Lafayette and a half brother, George Patton Kahl of Onekama, Michigan.
    Also survivng are 3 grandchildren, Jill Patton Rutland (husband: Chris) of Austin, Texas, the Rev. Jacob Patton (wife: Paige) of Huntsville, Alabama, and Ross Tolen (wife: Shannon) of Fort Wayne; 4 great-grandchildren, Harrison and Hadleigh Rutland, Laci and Luke Patton. He was injured in a Atomic Bombers game in New Mexico, went to the hospital and that is where he met his bride Alice Mae Perkins, RN.

    Visitation 3-7 pm (CST) Monday, December 8, 2008, with Masonic service at 6:30 (CST) at the McMullan-Stitz Funeral Home, Kentland. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. (CST) Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the McMullan-Stitz Funeral Home, Kentland, the Rev. Jack Snell officiating.
