    Richard H. Palmer. Mr. Palmer is one of the earliest pioneers of Wisconsin; he was born in Halifax Co., Va., in 1805; he went to Galena, Ill., in 1826; settled near Platteville, Grant Co., in 1830; afterward removed to La Fayette Co., thence to Dubuque, afterward to Jo Daviess Co., Ill.; he came to Montfort in 1851, and was a soldier in the Black Hawk war; has been engaged in mining the most of his life; has been married twice; had ten children by first wife and one by second; has five children living.
