Richard A. Newquist, 81, of DeKalb, Ill., passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at the DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center in DeKalb. Born June 5, 1927, in Racine, Wis., he was the son of Harvey P. and Mabel (Hartmann) Newquist. He married Mary Lou Milosiewicz on June 22, 1957, at St. Hyacinth Parish in Chicago. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. He was a bookkeeper for Newquist Foundry and later Johnson Concrete. Richard was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church where he sang with the choir for 35 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 717 where he was the past Grand Knight and past District Deputy, and he initiated the M.R. Drive in the DeKalb area. Richard enjoyed bowling, playing the piano and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; two daughters, Sylvia (Ken) Klewin of Naperville and Mary Beth Newquist of DeKalb; four grandchildren, Max, Jake, Kevin and Jamie; four brothers, Howard Newquist, Don (Betty) Newquist, both of DeKalb, Harvey (Pat) Newquist, Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz., and John Newquist of Charleston, S.C. and; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2008, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 321 Pine St., DeKalb, with Father Kenneth Anderson officiating. Burial will follow services at St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the church and from 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2008, at the Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb. A Wake Service will be at 7. on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established for Richard A. Newquist in care of the Anderson Funeral Home, Ltd., P.O.
