The genealogy issue with this bird is who was his father? He could be the son of the Windsor Newberry and brother to Benjamin. It's possible, there were not all that many people in New England in the 1640's. Alternately, he was a new immigrant from a different line.

In this year he purchased land at Malden, and removed thither; made inperfect will 1685, inventory the following . BENJAMIN was probably dead long before his father; of the three named in will JOSEPH was dead before 1702, when the widow Sarah was living and TRYAL and DORCES, who married, perhaps, Joseph Burrill, and she had been administratrix, having by will of the father most of his property, buy charged to take care of her mother. by jkn-c March 1993 NOTE. on same page is: BENJAMIN NEWBERRY of Windsor married in 1648 Mary Allyn, only daughter of Matthew Allyn. children; Mary b.1648; Sarah b.1850; Hannah b. 1652 (died at 11 years); Rebecca b.1655; Thomas b.1657; Abigail b.1659; Margaret b.1662; Benjamin b.1669; Hannah (again) b.1673; and he died 1689; his wife died 1703. A tradition reports that he married Abigail, widow of Rev.John Worham, and had two daughters. He was representitive at 22 sessions, and an assistant 1685, a captain in war with King Phillip, and a member of the Council of War. His daughter married John Maudsley, Newberry called him Marshall; Sarah married, 1668 Reserved Clapp; Abigail married, 1684, Ephraim Howard; Margaret married, 1689, Return Strong; and Hannah, 1703 John Wolcott.***** 27 May 1994 jkn-c

Richard Newberry or Newbury was made a freeman of MA Bay Colony in May 1645. He first appears as an inhabitant of Weymouth, where he remained till about 1661. He had two lots granted to him in Yarmouth, MA, one in the east field, first given to Joseph Hill who lived there to 1638. He removed to Malden, MA about 1661.
