Richard Morgan was the second person buried in the Round Lake Cemetery.

This information received from Joretta Mohns regarding Richard Morgan. Joretta received this information from a relative in Salt Lake City.

Per Joretta: “I know that family information says that Richard Morgan had a first wife named Mary Jones, but all the baptism and birth records found in England and Wales prove that Susannah Edwards was the mother of all of Richard’s children. I suspect that perhaps Richard’s mother was Mary Jones.

Someone named Ian from the Ancestry.com message boards sent Joretta the following, which she is fairly sure is correct.

Per Joretta: 19 June 1804: Richard Morgan was baptized at Llanymynech Parish Church, Shropshire, England. Information indicates that Richard, son of John Morgan of Crickheath (Shropshire, England) (lab) and Mary Jones of Llandrinio (Montgomeryshire, Wales was baptized that date. Richard’s year of birth does vary between censuses but this fits in with the year of birth given in the 1860 census. Llanymynech is in both Shropshire, England and Montgomeryshire, Wales with the border running straight through the village. This may account for Richard giving his birth county as Wales in some censuses and England in others.

As for the Edwards line, this is a possibility: 14 July 1816 Susannah Edwards was baptized at Llangollen Parish Church, Denbighshire, Wales. She was the daughter of Evan (lab) and Margaret of Llangollen, Fechan. Note: You can see that Susan Edwards’ parents were from Llangollen Fechan, which is where Richard and Susan’s first child Richard Morgan was baptized. All the other children were recorded as having been born in Shropshire, and if you recall I have their birth certificates listing Susan as the mother of Mary, John and George.

Also, someone else on the message board pointed out that there was a Geoge Morgan baptized at Llangollen in Denbigh on the same day that Richard (son of Richard and Susan) was baptized 1 October 1835. George was the son of John, probably our Richard Morgan’s brother. There were not many Morgans in Llangollen Parish. (Only 3 records for Morgans are recorded – the 2 baptisms and a marriage.)
