From the March 24, 2011, edition of the Sioux City (IA) Journal VERMILLION, S.D. -- Richard J. Manning, 60, of San Francisco, formerly of Vermillion, died on March 13, 2011, in Dubai, after a short struggle with cancer. His ashes will be buried in Garryowen Cemetery, with a private family gathering in celebration of his life. Richard John Manning was born Jan. 26, 1951, in Vermillion. He attended Vermillion High School graduating in 1969. He then attended USD graduating in 1973. At the time of his death he was the director and regional manager for AISPO, (service provider for various insurances groups) CA. Traveling and visiting new places was a desire and love that he pursued. Survivors include his brothers, James Manning of Burbank, S.D., Edward (Dinah) Manning of Omaha; sisters, Phyllis (Bernie) Brommer of St. Paul, Minn., Arlene Olson of Sioux Falls, S.D., Beverly (John) Kramer of Belleville, Wis., Sharyl (Richard) Kressler of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Janelle (Ross) Schochenmaier of Aberdeen, S.D.; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Robert Ramsey and Lorraine Hart. He was preceded in death by parents, Dan and Leda Manning. |
