KINSEL Richard E ------ Richard E Kinsel, age 81, of Creekside, Holland, formerly a long time resi dent of Maumee, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2002, in his residenc e. He was born December 19, 1920, in Toledo to Alfred and Clara Kinsel. Di ck received pilot training through the Civilian Pilot Training progr am at the University of Toledo. As a teenager, he ferried light aircraft a cross the country before enlisting in the Navy. He served as an officer a nd patrol bomber pilot for 2 tours in the Pacific. Following the war he fi nished his education at the University of Toledo and taught at the form er Parkland Craft School. As part of the curriculum he took his class to O ak Openings and planted Scotch Pine trees. While teaching he earned his ma sters degree at the U of T then did additional graduate work at the Univer sity of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. After returning to Maumee, he w as employed with the Lucas CO Board of Education as a school psychologi st retiring in 1968. After retirement, Dick delivered flowers for the form er E.B Warren Florist in Maumee. A long time member of St. Paul's Luther an Church, Maumee, he taught Sunday School for 25 years and also serv ed as Congregation president. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Howard Kinsel; siste r, Dorothy Shultz; and first wife, Lois Hemsoth Kinsel. He is surviv ed by his wife of 46 years, Susan Bond Kinsel; children, K Sheldon (Jan e) Kinsel of Utah, Kathy Kinsel of CA, Lisa Alibabaie of Oregon, D avid (Jill) Kinsel of Sylvania and Joan (Greg) Smith of CA; 16 gra ndchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, Maumee, on Tu esday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a. m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Maumee. Interment Ottawa Hills Memori al Park. The family suggests memorials to the church. |
