    R. Wayne Hull, 50, former Milton resident, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Kaukauna Community Hospital following a long illness.

Mr. Hull, long-time avid golfer and sports enthusiast, was almost totally paralyzed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig disease, an incurable illness that works slowly and painlessly on the muscles, preying on middle-aged, active, athletic men.

He was born in Milton, Feb. 5, 1923. After serving in the Navy during World War II, he attended Milton College graduating in 1949, and married former Marge Rabyor, Milton. He then taught in Kaukauna for five years while attending summer school at the University of Wisconsin and received a masters degree in 1953. From there he became the elementary principal at Waupaca, then Combined Locks, then the Kimberly school district where he became director of elementary education.
For three years he worked as assistant director of placements at the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh before returning to Kaukauna as Quinney principal. Hull, of 403 Buchanan Rd., Combined Locks, retired last June due to his illness.
He was also one of the founders of the Fox Valley Golf Club in Kaukauna, which hosts the annual Wayne Hull Invitational Tournament.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Richard and Geoffrey; two daughters, Laurie and Lisa, all at home; three brothers, Harold, Evansville; Ronald, Janesville; and Ken, Milton; and a sister, Mrs. James (Mildred) Hughes, Rockford.

Services will be held at the Kaukauna Methodist Church, Friday, Jan. 18, at 9:30 a.m., and the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church, at 3 p.m., with the Revs. Gordon Merritt, Kaukauna, and Earl Cruzan, Milton, officiating. Visitation will be held at the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Milton Cemetery with Monroe Schneider, Dr. George Boyd, Julian Bichler, Gene Ploetz, Julian Conkey and Ray Schmidt, all of the Kaukauna area, as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are: Henry Drechler, Ron Wenninger, Bernie Schmitt, Carl Sunby, John Diestler and Jim Minkebege.
