    LEOMINSTER -- Richard H. Howe, 81, of 32 Stearns Ave., a World War II veteran, died Tuesday, March 4, at home after an illness.
    He leaves his wife of 56 years, Mildred (Hart) Howe; two sons, Harry R. Howe of Leominster and Thomas C. Howe of Gardner; two daughters, Katherine Howe of Leominster and Virginia Howe of Acton, Maine; a sister, Elizabeth Barrineau of Florida, and five grandchildren. He was born in Leominster, son of Harry P. and Charlene (Felton) Howe. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as an aviation machinist mate.
    Mr. Howe was a purchasing agency for E.B. Kingman. After retiring, he became a skilled craftsman, creating individualized custom scale-model aircraft. He was a member of the American Historical Society and the Unitarian Church.
    Private funeral services will be held at the family's convenience. Entombment will be in Evergreen Mausoleum. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to the Leominster Firefighter Relief Fund, 19 Church St., Leominster, MA 01453. Wright-Roy Funeral Home, 109 West St., is directing arrangements.
