As early as 1918, Richard was a sailor on the Great Lakes- and in Jan.,1922 he entered the USA and headed to the West coast. Manifest records of the Monterey indicate he joined the crew as an A.B.(Able Seaman) April 15, 1922 in Honolulu- returning to Seattle Washington, he continued to work along the Pacific coast, he applied for US Citizen on Oct. 4, 1929- his personal description was 5' 10", brown hair, blue eyes, 160 pounds. Richard listed his last foreign residence was Papeete, Tahiti, Society Islands. In 1942 at the age of 46, Richard enlisted in the US forces, his address at the time was 25 Clay st. S.F., CA.. His death in 1946 was a result of an automobile accident.
