  • 5 April 1695 - Richard Dudley Senr, of the Parish of Farnham sold a 50 acre parcel of land to Richard Jasper for for 1600lbs. of tobacco, joining upon land already owned Richard Jasper(sic)and bordered on land formerly called "Quintilian Sherman's Branch" on the south side of Totuskey Creek.   • 5 Jun 1695 - Barber to Dudley deed: This is a deed from William Barber of Totuskey Creek to Richard Dudley, Sr. For an unspecified amount of tobacco, William Barber sold anunspecified parcell of land adjacent to land of Roger Williams.

Information on Richard Dudley

Colonel Richard Dudley b. abt. 1623 Bristol, Eng.; [NOTE: Wills of Richmond Co., by R. Headley shows 1698 Will of Richard Dudley and also cites son of Richard, Alexander, as being a legatee of John Stephens/Rappahannock in 1661]; abt. 1645 he marr. Mary Seawell; In 1646, he was summoned to Orphans Court in York Co. to file guardian report. In 1646 he was granted more than 1000 acres in Gloucester Co., VA. In 1654, Thomas Sax, Rector of a chapel of Lancaster left a legacy to Richard Dudley, 2nd son of Edward Dudley. In 1657 he was elected Sheriff, Gloucester Co., VA and in 1659 he patented land on Mobjack Bay, Gloucester Co. where his older brother, William resided. In 1661, Richard Dudley was described as a merchant when he sold his plantation in Lower Norfolk Co., Lynhaven Parish (now Princess Anne Co.)where he then lived along with all his stock and cattle and other property. In 1667 he was elected a member of the vestry of Kingston Parish, Gloucester Co. Twelve years later he was appointed colonel of militia in the same county.

i. Frances (son, Ambrose baptized 1698, Christ Church, Middlesex Parish)
ii. Richard was member of vestry of Kingston Parish 1682-1706; owned 400 ac in Petsworth Parish, also acreage in Kingston and Ware Parishes.
iii. Major Robert Dudley, b. 1647, Lower Norfolk Co. and d. Oct. 20, 1701; resided in Gloucester Co. and Middlesex Co.; about 1680 was given 500 ac. by his father. In 1682, he was member of vestry of Christ Church Parish, Middlesex; 4 years later was church warden of Lower Chapel. In 1685 elected member of House of Burgesses for several years. In (c) 1690, marr. Elizabeth Ransom (daugh George Ransom);
iv. Ambrose, b. 1649 Lower Norfolk Co.; 1667 was member Vestry Kingston Parish, Gloucester Co.; resided Mobjack Bay. 1699 was justice of peace, Gloucester Co.;Speaker of the House of Burgess 1710-1712.("Colonial VA Register. Gloucester Burgess).
