The Visitation of Yorkshire in 1563 and 1564^[1] places this Richard Dalton as the son of Robert Dalton and Margaret Unknown. However, if he and his brother William were the elder brothers of Robert and Margaret's son John, William would have been close to if not more than 100 years old when he was mentioned as still being alive in 1527^[2]. Therefore, it is likely that a generation is missing.
