He arrived in Eastern Massachusetts in 1671. He then moved to Long Island and served as an apprentice to Thomas Moore, shipbuilder. Some believe he married Moore's daughter. In 1675 he lived in Southhold, Long Island, New York. In 1678 he was in the Rahway area of Elizabeth, New Jersey. In 1679 he patented 300 acres near Rockaway, Morris Co., New Jersey. His died on the way to New York in 1697.
