- Hi Darrel, Your Richard Byrd is the brother of my 4th Great Grandfather Henry Richard Byrd, born 1764 in Prince Edward, Va. They are the sons of John Byrd, born 1726 in Spotsylvania, Louisa, Va. and Sarah (Unknown), born about 1726/30 in Spotsylvania, Va. As far as I have been able to determine, they are descended from the LeBrid line which can be traced back to Charleton LeBrid, born about 1023. Charleton's son Hugo LeBrid is reported as having fought with William the Conquor in the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
