Richard Bray First Known Service with the Royal Navy was on the 4th of May 1697 Last Known Service with the Royal Navy was the 24 Jan 1703 1697, 4th May 1697 Lieutenant HMS Jersey 4th May 1697 until 3rd Nov 1698. To the West Indies with a convoy (Ship renamed Margate 21st Oct 1698). 3rd Nov 1698 Paid off Captain Edmond Bugdon On 12th Aug 1698 Court Martial : Edmund Bugdon, Captain, HMS Jersey. Crime: Disobeying the orders of the Governor of the Leeward Islands. Verdict: Guilty. Sentence: Dismissed from the service, fined all pay due, and imprisoned for 12 months. Lieutenant Issued by John Neville, The Mediterranean Sea Confirmed 29 March 1698 On the 14th of Jan 99 Warrant for the appointment of Lieutenant Richard Bray to be Master Gunner of the Trident & he was moved to the Trident Prize Gunner West Indies until 27th Feb 1701. The appointed Third Lieutenant for the Suffolk for one month while it was at Spithead with a reduced crew. Moved to the Orford as Third Lieutenant on 15 Mar 1701 until 28 Sep 1701. Then appointed 29 Sep 1701 to HMS Dunkirk as Second Lieutenant. He sailed to the West Indies and on the 29th Sep 1702 captured Le Postillon. Died 24th Jan 1703 at sea. He left the Royal Navy on the 24th of Jan 1703 to become a Captain of an East Indian Ship named the Herne and remained the captain until his death in 1713 while at sea.
