He was bound out as an apprentice to Robert Catlin, Jr. in 1677 who promised t o teach him to read. The court petition says "Richard Boston, bastard child o f Henry Boston begot on ye body of Judith Best, now wife of Thomas Davis (tail or) of this county, until he attains full age."
