  2.   The birth of Richard is not found in Source:Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records of Newbury, Massachusetts, to the End of the Year 1849 though this birth seems to fit well in the family and it is to be expected that they should have a son named Richard. Source:Currier, John J. "Ould Newbury" : Historical and Biographical Sketches, p. 237, says this family only had 9 children (7 sons), so presumably did not include Richard in this family. However, Source:Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records of Newbury, Massachusetts, to the End of the Year 1849 does give the marriage of Richard jr. to Margaret Woodman in 1699. As of this date, Richard1 and Richard2 had died, leaving the father Richard3 to be Richard, Sr.; this Richard4, his son, as Richard, Jr.; and Richard, s/o Samuel, being born 1679 hence 3 years younger, and not quite of legal age, as Richard 3rd. So it seems that Hoyt is probably correct in showing this Richard in this family.
