John Swete Esq. was the son of Benjamin Swete of Pleasantfields, Cork. He was a Magistrate and the High Sheriff of Cork
John Ashe was ordained Deacon by Tobias, Archbishop of York on 13 March 1624 and Priest by the same Archbishop on 18th Dec.1625.
He was from 1633 to 1661, P. Mora,Lismore; and from 16-(?) to 1661 ws R.Killeagh.
John Ashe , R.Killeagh, died in 1661, and in his will, dated on 18th April, 1661/2, mentions his wife, Anne, a daughter, Christian (wife of Mr. Hill), and two sons, Robert and Richard.
It seems that he left his property to his grandson Richard son of his first born son Robert who was a clergy-man.
He is listed as a member of the Commission of the Peace for Cork in 1773 by Charles Smith, ( the ancient and present state of the county and city of Cork)
Lots of DEEDS for land rental in Kings Inns.
the Muskerry Constitutional Society was set up in July 1771, and consisted of about 50 Gentlemen, all Magistrates and/or Landowners in Co.Cork. It's first action was the indictment and outlawing of Art O Laoire in August 1771 on very dubious legal grounds. Cornelius was a Landlord like themselves, albeit a Catholic. His son Art had publicly advertised that he was prepared to appear before the next Assizes to have the matters settled by Law. The rather arbitrary Outlawing, presumably based on the possibility that one of their Members had been humiliated by Art, meant that one of their Members, the Complainant in fact, was enabled to take the Law into his own hands, which he did in May1773.
