BIOGRAPHY: Richard Adams, son of Richard and Mercy Adams was born at Preston, CT on June 3,1708 and died at Sandisfield, MA on MArch 1,1787. In June 1764, he bought a farm in Sandisfield, Berkshire Co., MA and removed therewith with his four young sons: Samuel, Richard, John and James. The eldest son William and daughters, Mary, Susanna and Mercy married and remained in Connecticutt. Richard Adams married on December 26,1732, Susanna Preston of Windham, CT who died on April 24,1788 at Sandisfield, MA. She was the daughter of John and Mary (Haynes) Preston who removed to Connecticutt from Andover, MA. John Preston was the grandson of Roger Preston, and an early settler of Ipswich where he arrived in 1635. Mary Haynes was the daughter of Jonathan Hayne of Haverhill, Ma and in her girlhood had been captured by the indians and taken to Canada, from whence she was redeemed by payment of a hundred pounds of tobacco.
