Dies In West [photograph of Reuchlin Wright] REUCHLIN WRIGHT.

HEAD OF WRIGHT FAMILY DIES AT HIS KANSAS HOME

Reuchlin, Aged 59, Had Resided in West for Many Years.

Reuchlin Wright, 59, oldest brother of Orville Wright, died

yesterday morning at his home in Kansas City. His wife and

three children survive. He had lived in the west for 31

years.

Mr. Wright's death resulted from a stroke of apoplexy.

Information of a previous stroke which he suffered one

week ago today summoned his younger brother, Lorin

Wright, to Kansas City, where he and his wife now are.

Orville Wright is ill with sciatica at his home in Oakwood, so

neither he nor his sister, Miss Katherine Wright, will be able

to go west. Burial probably will be in Kansas City.

Reuchlin Wright was born March 17, 1861, and was the

oldest child of Bishop and Mrs. Milton Wright. Lorin, Orvile,

and Miss Katherine Wright are his surviving brothers and

sisters.

His wife, a Miss Billheimer, was the daughter of a U. B.

minister who formerly was stationed in Dayton. The

children all are married.

After leaving Dayton, Reuchlin Wright operated a farm in

Kansas, but had lived in Kansas City for several years.

Reuchlin, first son of Milton and Susan C. Wright, brother to Wilbur and Orville Wright, spent a year at Western College near Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1879, then briefly taught elementary school . He spent another year at Hartville College, IN with his brother, Lorin and took a job as a clerk in a lumberyard in Dayton, OH. He married Lulu Billheimer in 1886 and had a daughter, Catherine Louise, a year later. Reuch (pronounced Roosh) had a difficult time earning a living in Dayton, and moved to Kansas City in 1889 where he found work as a bookkeeper with another lumber company. That job proved a dead end, and he took another with a railroad. In 1901, he moved to a farm near Tonganoxie, Kansas, where he raised cattle and seed corn. His daughter, Catherine died soon after moving west, but Reuch and Lullu had three more children, Helen Margaret, Herbert, and Bertha Ellwyn.
