Susan Koerner was born in Loudon County, Virginia and raised in Indiana.[7] She attended Hartsville College in Huntington, Indiana. Many authors have attributed Orville and Wilbur Wright's fascination with tinkering to their mother who liked to make things like sleds and whirlygigs.
