ONE BOY WAS SENT AWAY Stole $6 from the Kitchen at the Eichenkranz Dance - Other Offenders

Reuben Radney and Kenneth Youngs, youngsters aged 11 and 12 respectively, were taken into custody Tuesday morning by Roundsman Grander on a warrant charging petit larceny. The pair went to the ball of the Eichenkranz at Turn hall last night, making the kitchen their headquarters where they wished to secure a job washing dishes. The boys were in and out of the kitchen looking things over. Radney discovered the box where the receipts for luncheon were kept and stole $6. The boys went home, Radney keeping 50 cents and giving $5.50 to Youngs to keep over night. The loss was reported to the police and as the boys were suspected of taking the money, both were arrested Tuesday morning. Radney confessed to taking the money and he was sent to the State Industrial school at Rochester by Acting Recorder Drummond. He was taken there that afternoon by Constable John E. Rich. Youngs was discharged, he having never before been implicated in wrong doing. Young Radney has been at police headquarters several times for connection with petty thefts about the city.

WOULDN'T TAKE RADNEY

Constable John E. Rich had his tedious trip to the Rochester State Industrial school yesterday with 11 year old Reuben Radney, convicted of stealing $6 at Turn hall Monday night, for nothing. On arrival the the institution Mr. Rich was informed that children under 12 years of age were not taken. The constable brought his diminutive charge back to Auburn and he was lodged in the women's ward at the City hall over night.

TOO YOUNG FOR INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL

Auburn, March 8. - The authorities of the Rochester State Industrial School refuse to receive Reuben Radney, who confessed yesterday to stealing $6 at a dance at Turn Hall, as the boy is one year too young, 12 years being the minimum limit at that institution. An effort will be made to send the boy, who is now in the custody of Constable John Rich, to the Catholic Protectory at Buffalo.

TWO BOYS ARRESTED

Auburn, April 14. - Elmer Lawson's store in State street was broken into at an early hour this morning. Entrance was effected through a window in the rear of the store. Reuben Radney and Charles Schrame, boys about 13 years of age, were arrested on this charge.

Mrs. Lawson's store has been broken into several times by boys in the past two years.

THE POLICE BLOTTER

Reuben Radney and Charles Schramm, the two young boys who broke into the Lawso sporting goods store on Saturday night and stole several watches were yesterday commited to the Catholic Protectory at Buffalo by Recorder Stupp. They were taken to that institution early this morning by Officer O'Dea.

OBITUARY NOTES ------ MRS. EMMA J. RADNEY & REUBEN H. RADNEY

Mrs. Emma J. Radney, for many years a resident of Spring Valley, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. George W. Wallace, Lawrence Street, Monday night, aged 65 years. She had been ill of Brights disease for a long time and for more than a month her condition had been serious and she failed gradually until the end came.

Mrs. Radney was born in Waterloo, N.Y. and came to Spring Valley more than twenty-five years ago. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. George W. Wallace and Miss Grace Radney, and one son Ralph E. Radney of Mount Vernon. She also leaves one brother, living in Cleveland, Ohio, and a sister who lives in Rochester.

Reuben H. Radney, a son of Mrs. Emma J. Radney, mentioned above, died at St Francis Hospital, Jersey City, last Friday morning, in his 26th year [i.e., at age 25]. He had been ill for four years of diabetes and unable to do any work for two years past. For the last two months he has been confined to the hospital.

He was born in Spring Valley and spent the greater part of his life here. He leaves a wife, who was Mary Reinhardt of Spring Valley, and a little girl, four years old. Also the sisters and brothers mentioned above.

The funeral services for both Mrs. Radney and her son were held at the Wallace home Wednesday afternoon with Rev. John Bovenizer officiating and burial was in Nanuet Cemetery.

On Friday, February 7th, her brother died in a New York hospital, and on the following Tuesday her mother, a member of this church, entered into rest. Both were buried on Wednesday at Spring Valley, NY.
