- About 1809, the sons of Alexander Brown, Adam and Samuel Brown moved into Ohio Co. KY from Virginia and by 1820 or shortly thereafter, many of the families associated with Reuben left the Ohio Co. KY area.
- From marriage consent, marriage bonds and birth locations, Reuben Brown Sr.'s children are thought to be Anny m. Moses Martin, Jonathan, Henry, Phoebe (b. SC m. William Jones), Elizabeth (b. SC m. John Atherton Jr.), Reuben, Joshua (b. SC), Sarah (b. SC m. John Toxel), perhaps Anna (b. KY m. Josiah Hedges) and perhaps William who lived near Henry & Reuben in Grayson Co. KY. Most of these families can be found living in the Sangamon Co. Illinois area in the early 1820s.
- 7 Nov 1799 - Bond by William Ellet. Moses Martin m. Anny Brown on 6 Nov 1798 with consent by father, Reuben Brown and witnessed by John Shaw, William Elliot. Bond posted after marriage? Note that Moses Martin is listed in the 1800 tax list for Ohio Co. KY and in 1816 testifies along with Reuben Brown and Jonathan Atherton to Henry Brown's death in New Orleans. Moses Martin is not in the 1820 Ohio, Hardin, Grayson or Daviess county census. World Connect lists his b. 1786 d. 14 Jan 1840 in Springville, Sangamon Co. Illinois. Excerpt from "The Early History of Jersey County, Illinois" pg. 341-342 - Moses Martin, a native of North Carolina, came to English Township in the early part of 1829, and settled upon Section 26, where he lived for some time when he moved to Section 30 where he died. The latter event occurred in 1840. He is buried on the farm he lived on, on the "Black Oak Mound", south of the Catholic Church....He was twice married. His son by his first marriage, named George, is now living West of Jerseyville. George Martin, a respected citizen of English township, was born in St. Louis Co. Mo., Dec. 5 1819, being a son of Moses and Elizabeth (Carrico) Martin, the former a native of North Carolina who died in 1840, and the latter a native of Kentucky. One Ancestry tree lists his b. June 28, 1779 in Rutherford Co, N.C. m. 5 June 1809 Marie Elizabeth Carrico no marriage location. Since we know Moses Martin was in Ohio Co. KY area until at least 1816, I looked for a Carrico on the 1800 tax list or 1810 census in Ohio Co. KY but didn't find one nor did I find a marriage record so this is perhaps a different Moses Martin.
- 1792 Hardin Co. KY created from Nelson - Per Larry Hart, Reuben Brown does not appear on the Hardin Co. KY tax lists 1792-1800.
