    "Abigail Brooks, b. in Princeton, Sept. 16, 1776; m. Oct 1796 Reuban, son of Jabez and Deborah (Knowlton) Bigelow, b. in Westminster, Mass., Nov. 23, 1776. They lived for a short time in Peru, Vt., where he was a prominent man, being the first representative, and teaching the first school in Peru. ... He was one of the first to abandon the use of intoxicating liquors and advocate the cause of temperance, and remained true to his convictions til his death, which occurred Dec. 13, 1834."
