    State of North Carolina Warren County
    On this 18th day of June 1818 before me the Subscriber one of the Judges of the Superior
    Courts of Law and Courts of Equity for the said State personally appeared Reps Mabry aged Sixty-three years resident in the said County & State who being by me first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the provision by the late act of Congress entitled an act provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States in the revolutionary war. That he the said Reps Mabry enlisted in the said County & State in the company commanded by Captain Hicks [Isaac Hicks of the 3rd Georgia Continental Battalion] that said company was attached to the Legion commanded by Colonel Scriven [sic, James Screven] of the Continental service of the United States. That he enlisted as aforesaid to the best of his recollection in the spring of 1776. That he continued to serve in said Legion in the service of the United States upwards of three years & six months. That he was in the battles of Ray's Cowpens, 1 at Screven's Plantation2 & the Eutaw Springs [September 8, 1781]3 in South Carolina. That he was taken prisoner at Savannah at the surrender of General Howe [Robert Howe].4
    And after being a prisoner six months made his escape. That he stands in need of the assistance of his country for his support. That he has no other evidence now in his power of his said service except the enclosed account
    On the same day appeared before me & made oath John Wortham -- That the said Reps
    Mabry is a man of moral character, and that he stands in need of the aid of his Country for
    support.
