The Lampasas Leader - Fri., Feb. 24, 1899

Mrs. J. E. Morgan Dead.

Mrs. Rena Morgan, wife of Col. J. E. Morgan, county clerk of Lampasas County, died in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, February 18, at 1 p. m., aged about 48 years. Mrs. Morgan had been a sufferer from cancer of the breast for about two years, and, while her death was not altogether unexpected, few realized the end was so near, and the sad news flashed over the wires brought sadness to many hearts. Deceased was born and reared in La Grange, Georgia, the daughter of Dr. Kimbrough, and came to Lampasas County with her husband in 1883. By her amiability, high character and generosity she won the love and friendship of everybody. Accompanied by her husband she left Lampasas about three weeks ago for Atlanta, hoping for relief, but the insidious disease baffled human skill. Her husband, mother and two married sisters, whose grief is shared by many sorrowing friends, mourn her death. The remains were interred in Atlanta cemetery.
