Rebecca Bennetts met Joshua Jacka during the Chewton goldrush. They married 3/7 /1869 and had 7 children. Joshua whose chest was weakened by working in the Cornish mines, found difficulty in supporting the family, so Rebecca conducted a grocery business in Chewton until 1895, when they moved to Clifton Hill where there was more chance of work for the family.
