Was her father Adam Steele, born in Ireland about 1715, whose daughter, Agnes Steele, born in Ireland 1743, and died in Erie county, Pennsylvania, 1813, married in 1765 to Charles Pollock? H. P. B., Washington D. C.......Answers: Steele-H. P. B. Mary Steele, wife of Captain William Lytle was the daughter of Richard and Rebecca (McKenzie) Steele, according to Lytle family records. "Richard Steele emigrated from Ireland and settled near the present site of Mercersburg, Pa. He married Rebecca McKenzie and they had eight children. After his death the widow with her son, Richard, and two daughters, Jane and Mary, moved to Kentucky in 1799 and settled first at the falls of the Ohio, later on farms near Lexington, Ky. Richard Steele, Jr. was an elder in the Pisgah Presbyterian church on the Lexington and Versailles roads. He married Martha McKenzie and had 11 children. Jane Steele, daughter of the immigrant, married John Hueston and had eight children. Mary Steele, born in Pennsylvania, August 15, 1736, married William Lytle October 27, 1761, and died 1809 at the home of her son-in-law, John Rowan, at Bardstown, Kentucky."
