The 1914 "History of Madison County, Indiana" mentions a David & Samuel Gooding, as early settlers of Lafayette Township, where Rebecca was also an early settler. Was she related to them? The book says that they were Kentuckians.

The 1880 Federal Census record for Rebecca's daughter, also Rebecca, states that her mother was born in Kentucky.
